R&B star Kayne West has been brave enough to say in words what a large percentage of America is only thinking. "George Bush doesn't care about black people". West was appearing on a telethon on NBC when he surprised viewers with the blatant comment about the US President in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The telethon was broadcast live with a delay on the east coast on American television but the producers of the show did not notice that West has started to ad-lib away from his script. The comment was censored before the delayed west coast broadcast three hours later. NBC was quick to remove itself was West's comments by later issuing a press release which stated "Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion." West also criticized the media for how they are reporting the disaster. "If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food" he said.
